Zhang Tongyun (1928) was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province. Ms. Zhang graduated in 1954 from the Drawing Department of the Central Art Academy, and was sent to work as a teacher in the South-Central Art School. She later taught in the Oil Painting Department of the Guangzhou Art Academy.

Ms. Zhang is specialized in oil painting. She cooperated with Mo Bohua.
