Zhang Xiliang (1939) was born in Fuyu County, Jilin Province. He graduated from Jilin Changchun Normal School in 1958. In 1961, he went to the Heilongjiang Reclamation Area to engage in middle school art teaching and mass art tutoring. He used to be a special-grade teacher in a school for children of the Heilongjiang Provincial Agricultural Reclamation Bureau.

Zhang is known for his prints. In 1996, he won the "Lu Xun Prize for Printmaking".
