Zhao Shangyi (1939) was born in Chongqing, Sichuan Province. From 1956 to 1963, he studied at the high school affiliated to the Southwest Art College (now Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts). Since then, he has been engaged in art education and worked successively in the Sichuan Children's Publishing House and the Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House. His works have been exhibited in many national art exhibitions and won many awards. He has published dozens of art publications, and some of his works have been collected by institutions and individuals at home and abroad.
