Zhou Zheng (1934-2021) hailed from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. After finishing middle school, he studied at the Western Painting Department of the Suzhou Art Training School, and in the early 1950s, he graduated from the Northwest Art Institute. He has held administrative functions in the Xi'an Art Institute and became professor in the Fine Arts Department of the Shaanxi Normal University.

Zhou exceled in oil paintings and had seen some of his works included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
