Fang Jing (1909) hails from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. In 1933, she graduated from the Western Painting Department of the National Hangzhou Art Academy. From 1934 until 1945, she worked for a number of film production and stage companies in the Shanghai area. She went to Hong Kong in 1946. After her return to Beijing in 1949, she was employed in the art section of the General Office of New China Bookstores [新华书店 Xinhua shudian]. In 1951, she was tranferred to the People's Fine Art Publishing House, where she mainly designed propaganda posters and New Year pictures.
Ms. Fang, who retired, specialized in New Year pictures and propaganda paintings featuring children.
