Huang Shude (1931) is from Nanhai, Guangdong Province. He joined the People's Liberation Army in 1949, and from 1959 to 1962, he studied and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He served as the leader of the art creation group of the South China Sea Fleet of the Navy, and as a full-time painter of the army. In 1983, he changed his job: he joined the Lingnan Art Publishing House in Guangdong.
Huang's specialty is woodcuts. In 1996, he was awarded the "Lu Xun Printmaking Award" (鲁迅版画奖) by the National Printmakers Association.
