Lin Shuzhong (1926-2014) was born in Pingyang, Zhejiang Province. He started his training at the National Peiping Art School in 1947 but later transferred to the East China Branch of the Central Art Academy, from which he graduated in 1953. Lin was professor at the Nanjing Art Institute.

Lin excelled in Chinese art history, Chinese painting and calligraphy.
