Liu Chang'en (1936-1996) was from Tongyu, Jilin Province. Liu was self-taught. From 1952 on, he sought instruction wherever possible and wherever he worked, including the Cultural Institute in Tongyu District. His interest was in Chinese painting and New Year prints. He later transferred to the Jilin Fine Arts Publishing House, where he headed the editorial office.
One of his New Year prints has been included in the collection of the Chinese Art Museum.
