Lou Puyi (1932-2002) was a native of Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. He served as an art creator in the army in 1949. He was admitted to the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1956, and then transferred to the Oil Painting Department the following year. He graduated from Wu Zuoren's studio in 1961 and was transferred to the Lanzhou Art Institute. He successively served as lecturer, associate professor, deputy director of the Department of Fine Arts of Gansu Normal University, professor and director of the Department of Art of Northwest University for Nationalities.
Lou was known for his sculptures, oil paintings and as an art educator.
