Nima Zeren (1944), of Zang (Tibetan) ethnicity, was born in Batang, Sichuan Province. After his graduation from the Minority Class of the Sichuan Art Academy in 1962, he worked as an art cadre in the local Cultural Center. He took a one-year refresher course in the Drawing Department of the Sichuan Art Academy in 1983. Nima now is the vice-director of the Gandun Tibetan Autonomous District Art Institute and Research Fellow of traditional Tibetan and Buddhist Drawing in the Chinese Tibetan Institute.
The poster The 1936 Meeting of Zhu De and Living Buddha Geda from 1983 is based on a collaborative painting by Renzhen Langjia, Mei Dingkai, Nima Zeren, Yixi Zeren, Da Wa, Yixi Sangdan, Lü Shumin and Chen Bingxi. Nima specializes in Tibetan tangka painting.
