Shi Dawei (1950, Shanghai) went to work in the comic strip office of the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House in 1978, after his graduation from the Chinese Painting Department of the Art Academy of Shanghai University. In 1986, he started as a professional artist in the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, where he still works.

Shi is known for his portraits and comic strips. Shi has been the recipient of numerous prizes and some of his works have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
