Wang Yingchun (1942) hails from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. In 1966, she graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Xi'an Art Academy and in the following years, she made oil paintings, Chinese paintings, blockprints, etc. In 1978, she entered the Portrait Section of the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Art Academy as a research student, and after her graduation in 1980, she joined the Chinese Painting Research Institute, where she now holds an administrative position.
Ms. Wang makes portraits, flower-and-bird paintings, landscapes and practices calligraphy. She co-designed posters with her husband, Yang Lizhou, with whom she started working together in 1959.
