Wen Guozhang (1942) was born in Jiangjin County, Sichuan Province. He started his artistic education in 1958, when he entered the middle school attached to the Central Art Academy. Later, he studied at the Dance Art Department of the Central Drama Academy and the Oil Painting Department of the Central Art Academy; he graduated in 1965. In 1980, he graduated as a researcher from the Blockprint Department of the Central Art Academy. He became associate professor in the Popular Art Department of the Central Art Academy.

Wen is specialized in oil painting. Some of his works have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery. The poster Chairman Hua at the parents' meeting of No. 166 Middle School was made in collaboration with Zhao Shiying and others.
