Yao Zhongyu (1931) is from Nantong, Jiangsu Province. He was taught by Jin Meisheng. In 1958, he became Vice Director of the New Year picture editorial office of the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. Yao is a member of the Shanghai Artists association.
