You Chongren (1934) was from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He entered the Suzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1951. Soon after the war to resist U.S. aggression and aid to Korea broke out, he joined the army and left the school. He later was employed in the Suzhou Municipal Cultural Office and created Chinese paintings in his spare time.
