Zhang Renyuan (1949) is from Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. His education started at the Nanchang Municipal Children's Palace. He was admitted to the Oil Painting Department of the China Academy of Art as a postgraduate in 1985. He received a master's degree. He worked at the Jiangxi Provincial Museum, and later was attached to the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Art Academy.

Zhang is known for his oil paintings.
