Zhang Yong (1942) was born in Tongcheng, Anhui Province. In 1965, he graduated from the Chinese and Figurative Painting Department of the Hubei Art Academy. He has worked as art editor for the Hubei renmin chubanshe, the Changjiang wenyi chubanshe, the Hubei Children's Publishing House, and Hubei meishu chubanshe.

Zhang is known for his Chinese paintings.
