Le Xiaoying (1921-1984) was from Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province. He loved painting since he was a child. When he was studying in middle school, he joined a painting organization and started drawing comics. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he dropped out of school and worked as an apprentice in shops in Ningbo and Shanghai. He has been engaged in film art work and commercial art work, and worked as an art editor. After the liberation of Shanghai in May 1949, he created many satirical cartoons and humorous paintings that matched the political situation.
