Ma Lequn (马乐群)

Ma Lequn (1933) was born in Shanghai. He is of Hui ethnicity. In the early 1950s, he studied fine arts at the Shanghai chapter of the Communist Youth League, and by the middle of the decade, he studied the 'calendar pictures'-style (月份牌) with such renowned artists as Li Mubai and Jin Meisheng. He now works as an editor in the New Year pictures section of the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House.

Ma collaborated on poster designs with Pang Ka and Jin Ming. He specializes in New Year pictures.
