Wang Zhongqing (王仲清)

Wang Zhongqing (1926-2012) was a native of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, who graduated from the Sichuan Provincial Chengdu Normal College in 1949. In 1952, he graduated from the Arts Department of the National Social Education Academy and took up teaching in the Arts Department of the Shanghai Opera Academy. Later, he joined senior management at the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. Wang retired in 1986. Together with Ding Binzeng, he created the serial cartoon version of the model work Shajiabang (沙家浜).

Wang was know for his serial cartoons and work in the gongbi ('meticulous', 工笔) style. He was married to Wu Xingqing.
