Wu Xingqing (1933-2005, Taizhou, Jiangsu Province) graduated from the Drawing Department of the Huadong (East China) Branch of the Central Art Academy in 1954. That same year, she went to work as a designer with the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House, where she became a deputy editorial consultant.
Ms. Wu was known primarily for her New Year pictures, and portraits in the 工笔 ('meticulous') gongbi-style. Her works, including some propaganda designs, have been awarded prizes and have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery. She cooperated with Ms. Chen Juxian. Ms. Wu was married to Wang Zhongqing.
