Advertisement for the new packaging of Labor brand (劳动牌) cigarettes, produced by the State-owned Shanghai Tobacco Industry Company (国营上海菸草工业公司). The redesign was introduced in 1958. The agricultural scene from the previous package is replaced with a male industrial worker holding a hammer and a female peasant holding a sickle. This image seems to be based on the well-known Soviet statue created for the Soviet pavilion at the 1937 World Fair in Paris, France, and later moved to Moscow.

Our copy of this poster was cut in two and re-used on the back as form for sales administration of a shop.
