He Qiu (何求), a ship-building worker from Guangzhou, was in prison from 1973 to 1976 for 'mischievous ideas', joined the Democracy Movement of 1978, became co-editor of several independent journals, was imprisoned again in 1981 and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
