In November 1953, production samples were sent from the steel factories in Anshan (鞍山) to Beijing: a piece of heavy-duty rail and a piece of seamless steel tube. These two - or two similar - samples are still on display in the National Museum of China. According to the labels in the Museum, both were the first domestically produced of their kind. The rail was sent to Mao, the tube to Zhu De.
