Posters from the many Chinese protest movements of the early 20th century are extremely rare. The oldest posters in our collections are related to the May Thirtieth Movement of 1925, that started after the shooting of Chinese demonstrators on the orders of a British police officer in Shanghai’s International Settlement on 30 May. The posters were issued by a student organization in Beijing, and were meant to raise support among the international community there.
