On December 11, 1929, Deng Xiaoping, Zhang Yunyi (张云逸) and others started the Baise Uprising (百色起义, Baise Qiyi) in Guangxi Province against the Guomindang government and founded the Seventh Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
