Siping, a strategically important city in Northeast China, was heavily fought over from 1946 to 1948. This poster depicts the final stage, the victory of the Communist troops over the Guomindang (early 1948).

The red flag, left of center, is of the Northeast People's Liberation Army (东北人民解放军).
