The Narcissus Queen Pageant is held among ethnic Chinese on Hawaii. It is part of the Narcissus Festival, organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii since 1949 to promote Chinese culture and trade between Hawaii and China. The elected Narcissus Queen gets make a goodwill tour to various cities in mainland China to act as 'cultural ambassador'. Mayette Lowe won the contest in 1989.
