The poster recounts and shows the events preceding the Long March, i.e., life in the Jiangxi Soviet, the Guomindang-led "extermination campaigns", the last of which forced the Red Army and CCP to embark on the Long March. A collage of historical photographs of troop units, a photograph of the Soviet Area from the perspective of an attacking Guomindang airplane, a preliminary decision to start the March, and a map showing the other liberated areas before the March started.
