The "Builders" was loosely based on 'Iron Man' Wang Jinxi, the model worker of Daqing, the most famous oilfield in China during the Cultural Revolution era. The movie was surpressed by the Gang of Four (or Jiang Qing personally) for various political (and personal) reasons.
